The Pongal Is A Harvest Festival Celebrated By Tamils In The Indian State Of Tamil Nadu And In Sri Lanka . Pongal Coincides With The Festival Makar Sankranti Celebrated Throughout India.The 2017 Pongal Festival Is To Be Celebrated From 14th January 2017 To 17th January 2017 Which Will Be Celebrated For 4 Days .

3. Maattu Pongal
4. Kaanum Pongal
The First Day Is Celebrated As Bhogi Festival In Honor Of Lord Indra, The Supreme Ruler Of Clouds That Giving Rains.
On The Second Day Of Pongal, The Puja Or Act Of Ceremonial Worship Is Performed When Rice Is Boiled In Milk Outdoors In A Earthenware Pot And Is Then Symbolically Offered To The Sun – God Along With Other Oblations . All People Wear Traditional Dress.
The Third Day Is Known As Mattu Pongal And The World Famous Jallikattu Game Will Be Conducted.
The Fourth And Final Day Is Known As Knaus Or Kannum Pongal Day Where People Gather Together At Places Like Beach And Other Entertainment Places.
Sallikattu Is A Bull Taming Sport Played In Tamil Nadu As A Part Of Pongal Celebration . This Is One Of The Oldest Living Ancient Sports Seen In The Modern Era. Jallikattu Held In Alaaganallur Near Madurai Is One Of The More Popular Events.
